MS Leaders Circle Award

2013 MS Society Leaders Circle

Serving as a partner with my clients, I work to develop new relationships, build staff capacity and institutional resources, and design strategies to achieve success. I believe this is best accomplished through working closely together to assess an organization’s current capacity, develop an action plan to meet the client’s unique needs and goals, and facilitate processes and initiatives to demonstrate results.

COMMITMENT

Working in collaboration with non-profit clients, I thoughtfully explore the organizational needs, resources, position in the market, and distinctive qualities to develop a results-driven approach to increasing employee skills, developing strategies to diversify and grow philanthropic revenue, and engaging volunteers in a meaningful and effective way.

As a change agent for organizations, I leverage my expertise and network to assist organizations in achieving their mission-aligned goals and in making meaningful philanthropic partnerships.

WHAT I DO

I see my engagement with an organization as an opportunity to work with the leaders, staff, and board members to plan and develop processes to build capacity for non-profit organizations.

After discussing organizational goals and needs and evaluating current processes and resources, I partner with non-profit clients on …

  • strategic planning
  • development planning (including fundraising, communications, and volunteer engagement)
  • project management (providing expertise to accomplish specific initiatives)
  • campaign programs
  • board and staff workshops
  • identifying and facilitating mission-aligned partnerships with non-profit and for-profit organizations

WORK METHOD

Learn:  I complete an assessment at the beginning of every new engagement to learn internal practices, working with staff and board members, to best understand the opportunities and challenges an organization is facing in achieving its goals. Externally, I complete discovery efforts to assess the organization’s position in the community and among similar organizations.

Plan:  I lead a collaborative approach with the organization to develop strategy, techniques, and action steps for short-term and long-term implementation.

Execute:  I provide guidance and manage work efforts with the staff and leadership, evaluating impact regularly and recommending any necessary changes to strategies and processes.

Connect: To complement the organizational activities and goals, I leverage my non-profit and for-profit network to make introductions between organizations to establish mutually beneficial relationships.

All efforts are approached as a partnership, working closely with staff, board, volunteers, and members to best position an organization for immediate and sustainable success. Terms of engagement and scope of work are determined based on the organization’s unique needs and goals.
